A belt with a turbulent history: the origin of the Forester Bushcraft Belt dates back to the 1950s and the military conflict in Malaysia. At that time, SAS soldiers used nylon straps with clamps as tactical belts, made from the straps that secured loads dropped by paratroopers. Over time, most British special units (SAS, SBS), marines, and paratroopers began using the same solutions. The belt with a pin buckle was far better than other options. It had simple adjustment and adapted to the user's body. More complex was the STABO evacuation harness of the Vietnam War and its predecessor, the McGuire harness. It consisted of shoulder straps with a belt sewn with parachute nylon straps with clamp buckles similar to the British ones. Equipment items were attached to the belt: ammunition pouches, water bottles, grenades, etc.
